Man who built B58 engine says he’s retiring

Man who rebuilt the engine used in the B58 fighter jet says he has decided to retire from the job.

Ray White Jr. says he will retire from a 40-year career in chemical engineering at the end of the year.

He says he retired last week at age 38 after serving as a test pilot on the first production B-58 prototype.

White Jr. has been with Lockheed Martin for more than 30 years.

He has built aircraft such as the F-35 fighter and has worked on the B-2 stealth bomber.

He says the company was never ready to be competitive with other countries and the U.S. is now.
